GP Online services available at all Waltham Forest practices
GP Online services are now available at all GP practices in Waltham Forest and local people are being encouraged to register for the free service.
Joan Fratter who has been a member of NHS Waltham Forest Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Information Technology Committee for three years says: “Being able to book an appointment online is a great benefit for many patients. It saves time for them as well as practice staff, who then have more time for those who use the telephone or visit the practice in person.”
People are asked to contact their GP practice to register, by completing a short form and providing proof of identity.
It is simple to register and once people have a password and login details they are able to save time and effort on the phone and travelling by booking or amending appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions using their smartphone, tablet or computer.
The CCG is looking for volunteers – available during practice opening times throughout March – to help promote and register people in the borough for online services. The volunteers will be supported by trained NHS facilitators who will be visiting practices across the borough to register patients to use GP Online services.
CCG Clinical Director Dr Mayank Shah, who has been a GP in the borough for nearly 30 years, said: “It’s fantastic that more and more people are registering for GP Online services and finding that tasks such as making appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions are becoming a lot quicker and more convenient.
“Those who sign up to volunteer will get the opportunity to play a vital role in helping people understand the process and showing them how to register for online services.”
