Response to March 2017- Local Area Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Services Inspection Report

NHS Waltham Forest Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) welcomes the views of parents in Waltham Forest, who shared their experiences with inspectors. We were pleased to receive feedback from parents that some were satisfied with the support provided for their children, especially in using the ‘early years’ (0 to five years) service.

Inspectors also highlighted the quality of services and parents experience of assessment processes.

We also note that there were areas that needed to improve; including the quality of the plans to improve outcomes for children with special educational and health needs. The CCG is committed to working with all agencies to ensure services are improved and are of a high quality standard that the children and their parents deserve. We want to assure parents and residents that necessary steps are being taken to address inadequacies in the services that families have received.

To deliver the required actions we have already established a dedicated Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) project board.

We will be working with partners including the London Borough of Waltham Forest and NELFT (North East London Foundation Trust) in seeking to address the issues raised by the inspectors as a matter of priority.
